Forum for National Associations
CARMEN has a ‘Forum for National Associations’ which provides a conduit for communication between members of national associations of professional medievalists and the activities of CARMEN. Representatives from these organisations meet at the Annual Meeting of CARMEN and one of their number serves on the Executive Committee of CARMEN. For the period 2009-2012, this is Flocel Sabaté Curull from the Sociedad Española de Estudios Medievales.
The remit and mission of the Forum includes
- disseminating information about CARMEN to individual members of the national associations
- representing medievalists from small institutions who are unable to attend CARMEN themselves
- inviting other national associations to participate in CARMEN
- reporting to the Executive Committee on issues of general concern
- taking its own action, particularly in relation to lobbying and promoting the discipline to national and international funding bodies
- other functions, as agreed with the Executive Committee.
